WHERE WE’RE GOING

The Salt Market!

The Salt Market! We’re opening for our THIRD summer on May 15 and we’re so excited! Winter months feel luxurious and long December through February, but come March, all of a sudden we’re in full swing.

We have so many exciting things in store– laminated pastries including croissants made by our incredible new baker, Sadie, and frozen foods so you can enjoy TSM at home even more. Thanks to all of your incredible support we have outgrown our little kitchen and have expanded to a satellite kitchen to give our kitchen and bakery team more space.

We have new merch! I love our 2025 sweatshirts, hoodies, tee’s, baseball caps, and goodies. This drop is a good one, so get yours while they’re in stock. They’ll hit the website in May as well, so keep an eye out for your emails.

Our pantry section will be stocked with new pantry items that I am particularly jazzed about.

Come see us! Opening May 15 and will be open Th-Sat from 8-2pm until Memorial Day (5/26) when we will be open full time, 7-2pm T-Sun. Cant wait to see you.

WHAT WE’RE EATING

Simple salads with

kickass vinaigrette

At a recent private dinner in Boston, I served a simple butter
lettuce and herb salad with my signature vinaigrette. Winter salads are such
a refresher from the sea of stews and roasts
we all love in
the winter months, and as we approach spring, I am loving
leaning into salads.

I often use a carrot peeler and peel in strips of carrots, roast
my own sunflower seeds with sea salt and sprinkle them on
top (they’re an amazing source of antioxidants). You can add
anything that speaks to you, the goal is to make it vibrant
and delicious.

For the vinaigrette, you can make any substitutions you’d like.
If you don't have honey, use maple syrup, if you prefer to use garlic powder instead of minced shallots, go for it! It’s all about ease. Make it easy for you. I make a large Weck jar of vinaigrette and keep it on our counter, it makes adding a salad SO EASY. Here’s a recipe for a nice big batch of vinaigrette and a simple salad.

Salad for 4

Organic Girl butter lettuce or two heads of butter lettuce
Pack of chives
Mint
Dill
Cilantro

Make the salad in a large bowl. Begin by layering your whole leaves of butter lettuce, do not chop or cut the lettuce. Remove the leaves of your herbs and use kitchen scissors to cut the chives into the bowl. Toss with a large spoonful of vinaigrette and add more if needed. Start small, you can always add more dressing.

For a big jar of vinaigrette:

In a jar put–

1 cup of olive oil
½ cup of apple cider vinegar or white wine vinegar, or even rice vinegar
3 big spoonfuls (tbs) of dijon
Shallot, minced (or garlic
powder if you’re low on time)
Lots of salt, lots of pepper
A whole juiced lemon if
you have one

Screw the jar kid on
tightly and shake the jar
really well and store on
your kitchen counter.
It can keep forever!

🎶 WHAT WE’RE LISTENING TO 🎶

A Springtime Playlist

The Salt Market Jazz for Springtime playlist. I can't quit jazz. I try to spice things up, but my most authentic self just loves the feel good, glamorous vibe setter of jazz. This one is less smoky than the one I made for Autumn, it's lighter and more relaxed, with tracks from Berlioz, Macabre Plaza, and Your friend daao. Perfect as we ease into Spring.

Our “Springtime” playlist is available on Spotify.

WHAT WE’RE DRINKING

BAWI

I can't wait for us to reopen in the Spring so we can order more Bawi! Bawi is a sparkling agua fresca that comes in four flavors– lime, pineapple, passionfruit and guava. It’s so good. I love the pineapple best. I am currently not drinking a lot of alcohol, but you could easily use this as a base for a cocktail with tequila.

WHAT WE’RE BUYING

A little wellness, just in time for Spring

Korean Skincare
I really love all things beauty and skincare! I research it, get really nerdy about ingredients and sourcing. These are my favorite skincare products that happen to be Korean. Since using these, I have noticed a big difference in buoyancy, moisture, and radiance. Remember: skincare is for all genders! Everyone should take good care of their skin. Here are some very tried and true products that I LOVE and use daily.

Best toner I have ever used—
Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Toner

My favorite eye serum with retinol—
Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum

My #1 hero product. I use it as a moisturizer daily—
PURITO Dermide Cica Barrier Sleeping Pack

Polyglutamic acid holds up to 4,000 times its weight in water. It helps whatever treatment (example, vit c) you use intensify. Put it on after your treatment serum—
SeoulCeuticals Polyglutamic Acid Serum

Best sunscreen, gives you such a glow—
Isntree Hyaluronic Acid Sunscreen SPF 50

Dry brushing
I have been dry brushing my face and body for about a year now. I’ve noticed a really big difference in bloating, skin health, and my nervous system. When you dry brush, you stimulate the lymphatic system, which helps remove toxins and waste products from the body, it also makes you feel calmer. It improves circulation by increasing blood flow, promoting skin health and reducing puffiness, and it's a natural detoxifier.

I dry brush once I’m out of the shower, with no lotion or skincare products on. Remember to always brush towards your heart. So from heart up, brush down, from heart down, brush up.
I love this one

Vibrating Board
My friends think I’m crazy, but I’ve recently gotten into this vibrating plate. I love it so much. You just stand on it for fifteen minutes and it helps so much with digestion, bone density, and lymphatic drainage. It has settings from 1-100 and a timer you can manage.  I have also noticed a big difference in my sleep and feeling generally more calm. I tuck it under the couch and pull it out to use in the evening. Highly recommend.
Get yours here.

Japanese Haircare
I love this mask. I have tried so, so many from drugstore finds to $100 jars. This one takes the cake. It’s great to soothe that windworn winter hair.
Tsubaki Premium Hair Repair Mask

Meditation
Insight Timer. As of December 2024, I am a meditator. It hasn't been very long, but it’s become a really special part of my routine. My partner, Molly, and I wake up early, take care of our pup Saul, and then we all cuddle together in the living room and do an Insight Timer meditation followed by a gratitude practice. I burn a little palo santo and light a candle. It’s just a really wonderful way to start our mornings. Now my goal is to keep it going through the summer!
Insight Timer is free

A kiwi a day
I tell everyone I love to eat a kiwi a day. The scientific research around the benefits of kiwi fruit are incredible! I am not a doctor or a scientist, but I do want to have a sharp brain for as long as I can. Kiwis contain a saturated amounts of flavenoids and carotenoids which work wonders at reducing inflammation. Research has found that inflammation is linked to brain disorders like memory loss and dementia. Kiwis also contain serotonin, high levels of vitamin C, and copper, which we need for healthy retinas. BOOM! Eat a kiwi a day everyone!

Brazil nuts
Eat 2 Brazil nuts a day. Most nuts contain about 1 microgram of selenium (an incredible antioxidant from diseases like cancer, heart disease and cognitive decline), where as just one Brazil nut contains 96 micrograms of selenium. I have two Brazil nuts every morning.
